INTRODUCTION

Taurasi DOCG is a red wine appellation in Irpinia, the fist DOCG of South of Italy. Our wine is based 100% on the native – and well regarded – Aglianico grape variety. The soil type includes calcareous marls, volcanic deposits and limestone. The latter contributes firm tannins to the wines, while the volcanic soil adds a certain smokiness. The wines must be aged for three years before release with a minimum of one year in barrel. But in our case, we prefer a longer ageing in bottle in order to get more elegance and velvet taste. It is full bodied with a great ability to age. Despite its density, high levels of extract and tannin, it retains good linearity and finesse. Taurasi offers flavours of raspberries, plums and black cherry, as well as smoky notes evocative of a white tobacco, freshly ground coffee and new leather. As the wine matures, it can take on earthy, forest-floor and gamey notes.

TASTING NOTES

Intense ruby red in colour, its aromas are intense and fruity with inkling of ripe red fruits. The palate is persistent and harmonic.
