‘Sordo is gaining recognition as one of the best Barolo producers around’ – Decanter Magazine

A family-owned, traditional Barolo producer of 8 award winning Cru.

Founded in the early 1900s by the present owner’s grandfather, Giuseppe, Sordo Giovanni is now in its third generation and run by Giorgio Sordo. Located a few kilometers from Alba, in the municipal district of Castiglione Falleto, the winery produces 8 critically acclaimed Barolo Cru wines.

The vineyards extend over a total surface area of 53 hectares across the municipal areas of Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d’Alba, Monforte d’Alba, Barolo, Novello, La Morra, Verduno, Grinzane Cavour and Vezza d’Alba. With very deep, compact calcareous marl and numerous micro elements, Sordo benefits from a multitude of environments for its cultivation of Nebbiolo. The company’s impressive ageing cellar, fitted with over one hundred high capacity oak barrels, enables the wines to mature and develop perfectly, producing high quality Barolo from 8 zones.
