‘In pursuit of excellence, no expense is spared at DAOU’ – Wine Advocate

Following our first two successful virtual tasting event hosted by our producers and C&C’s Portfolio Ambassador Peter McCombie MW, we are delighted to announce our next monthly tasting on Tuesday 21st September, featuring our multi award-winning Californian agency DAOU Family Estates.

Founded by brothers Georges and Daniel Daou in 2009, DAOU Family Estates was created with the vision to make California “first growth” wine. Located in the Adelaida District of Paso Robles, DAOU Mountain provides the terroir to achieve this. Standing 2,200 feet above sea level, on calcareous clay soils that evoke Bordeaux’s Right Bank, the altitude supports the soils, providing the perfect terroir for the production of high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon. The winemaking vision of DAOU Family Estates falls under Daniel’s meticulous guidance. He is relentless in his pursuit of absolute fruit purity, implementing an array of proprietary techniques and technologies to create one of the most rigorously innovative winemaking programs in the world. This obsessive approach has certainly not gone unnoticed.

The Daou brothers have undisputedly put Paso Robles on the map for Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux varieties, including founding the Paso Robles Cabernet Collective. The estate was named a “jewel of ecological elements” by the father of modern American winemaking, André Tchelistcheff, and was recently nominated and shortlisted for Wine Enthusiast’s American Winery of the Year.

Please join us for an exclusive virtual tasting of DAOU’s wines at 3pm on Tuesday 21st September. Hosted by C&C Wines’ Master of Wine Peter McCombie and DAOU Family Estate’s Daniel Daou you will be guided through the fascinating story and philosophy behind this pioneering Paso Robles estate, before tasting a selection of their core wines, including the new forthcoming release of their flagship ‘Soul of a Lion’:

“In pursuit of excellence, no expense is spared at DAOU. Think of it like a Michelin three-star restaurant: no detail goes unnoticed and no shortcuts are taken”
– Wine Advocate

“As I’ve said in the past, these wines compete with the best of Napa Valley and are some of the leading Bordeaux blends from Paso Robles.”
– Jeb Dunnuck

“Paso Robles…is showing steady gains, delivering quality that matches volume and producing stars
such as DAOU Vineyards, from brothers Georges and Daniel Daou, whose Cabernet Sauvignon… is one of the winery’s highest-rated bottlings to date, rivaling some of the best from Napa.”
– Wine Spectator

“Brothers Daniel and Georges Daou’s deeply flavored, expressive, polished wines are consistently at the top of the Paso Robles heap of Bordeaux-inspired wines. They can stand toe-to-toe with the best that Napa has to offer, as I have experienced a number of times in blind tastings.”
