This is Islay’s iconic whiskey, aged for 16 years in both refilled American oak hogshead casks and first-use casks. This strongly-flavoured whisky is a frequent award winner, and in 2017, was declared “Best Distiller’s Single Malt” and won a double gold medal, meaning it received gold scores unanimously from all panelists. Not for the faint-hearted, the strong peaty notes combine with wood, iodine, and smoky, sweet notes that to create a powerful whiskey. Its intense flavour pairs superbly with mature blue cheeses.
One of the peatiest whiskies money can buy and also one of the most famous, which makes the competitive pricing of 16 year old edition of such a desirable whisky all the more remarkable.
