Nerobufaleffj is made from first-growth grapes grown in the long-established highly renowned Bufaleffi vineyard. This is located in the heart of the Pachino/Val di Noto wine district, regarded as the finest terroir for the cultivation of Nero d’Avola Sicily-wide. The old bush-vines of Nero d’Avola are over 50 years old. Consequently, grape yields do not exceed 4 tons per hectare with a vine density up to 7,500 plants per hectare (organic dry-farming). The vineyard also lies on limestone-based bedrock, covered by a topsoil featuring a great variety of clay formations (ranging from white-limey clay to brown/reddish-coloured and even black-coloured clay rich in iron oxides and minerals of volcanic origin).
Nerobufaleffj offers a gentle and exotic rendition of Nero d’Avola. Bright, multifaceted bouquet, featuring well-delineated aromas of ripe red berry fruit, flowers, cedar, chalk and nutmeg. On the palate, Nerobufaleffj displays a delicious silky texture, loaded with fresh acidity and laced with penetrating flavours of ripe red cherry, roasted flowers and aromatic sandalwood. Tannins are fine-grained and lead to a bright, persistent, savoury finish. The wine will likely reach its plateau of maturity between 8 and 15 years of bottle age.
