Project Description

Malvira was founded in the 1950’s by Giuseppe Damonte who acknowledged that Roero had not, at that time, maximised its vineyard and grape-growing potential. Today the vineyard is run by Massimo and Roberto Damonte, Giuseppe’s sons, who inherited their father’s passion for winemaking and have since developed the business to an iconic single site wine producing company.

Malvira stretches across 42 hectares of undulating Roero hillside, incorporating a one-million bottle underground cellar, a fabulous 14 bedroom 4-star boutique Hotel and seven unique vineyards. 14 hectare south-west facing Trinita Vineyard, the 5 hectare south-east facing Saglietto vineyard, the 4.5 hectare south facing Renesio vineyard, the 300m above sea level 1 hectare south facing San Michele vineyard, San Guglielmo a 3 hectare south facing and oldest Malvira vineyard, the 1.5 hectare east facing Mombeltramo vineyard and the Boiolo vineyard which is both the highest at 400m but also the smallest. Each vineyard offers unique soils, altitudes, aspects and microclimates which allows the Damonte family to experiment whilst also maintaining production of all single vineyard wines, in turn allowing each different vintage to tell its own unique story.
